We had a great time last night at #shonalitweetup and yes, I will be posting photos from that event, but I’ve got just a few minutes before Arianna Huffington‘s keynote begins at PRSA2009.
Very quickly, though, here are some of the cutest shoes I’ve seen at the conference so far.
Why shoes?
There’s a lot of walking and standing at an event like this. Whether you’re an attendee, sponsor or presenter, your tootsies need to feel good, otherwise your networking’s going to be painful and potentially disastrous (as for presentations? Don’t even go there). And you know what a good conversation starter they are.
Plus, what kind of PR people would we be if we couldn’t find hot yet comfy shoes?
Here are some of the good ones so far:
Michelle Apodaca’s olive-colored Tsubos, one of Decker’s six brands. She said, “Tsubo means pressure point in Japanese… hence super comfortable!”
These are what Johna Burke of BurrellesLuce is wearing today. I don’t know what brand they are, but they’re hot.
Can’t leave the gentlemen out. Mike Pranikoff of PRNewswire never disappoints when it comes to cool duds.
And finally, moi. Franco Sarto. I love ’em.
If I find more great shoes to showcase, I’ll add them to my Flickrstream. So if you’re at the conference and have a pair to show off, tweet me.
Oh, and props to Trevor Loe for admitting he owns more pairs of shoes than his wife. There’s a guy after my own heart.
Update, 8 pm PDT.
Sandra Fathi, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
I saw these on Amy ___ (?) as I was coming out of Arianna Huffington‘s keynote. Even though they’re wedges, the heels look pretty high, so I think they qualify for this particular exercise, don’t you?
[…] When Public Relations, Social Media And Customer Service Converge January 12th, 2011 TweetSwagatam! (That's Sanskrit for "welcome," btw.) Do take your shoes off and stay a while. If you like what you see, I'd love you to subscribe to my RSS feed or subscribe by email. Regardless, thanks for visiting! If you read WUL regularly (what do you mean you don’t? Don’t you see that “subscribe” button to your right?!), you know that I love shoes. […]
Shonali, shoes? I cannot imagine how comfortable those high heels are no matter how sexy they look… It must be some kind of a balance. On the other hand- how about these strangling ties that we, men, are supposed to wear? I tend to ignore them without, I hope, being less social…
Nahum, are you saying we’re bending the truth? ;-) Or maybe we women just have a higher pain threshold than men. Well, I have to take everyone’s word, and they told me they were comfortable, so I believe them. Shoe technology’s pretty amazing these days. As to the ties… I feel for you!
Shonali, I am not saying that women bend the truth. They do seem to have a higher threshold for pain and also they might got used to walking on heels. Everything is relative- at least somewhat- more comfortable vs. comfortable. Also, I tried to be controversial…
Well, you certainly succeeded, LOL. I think your point about being used to walking on heels is definitely true and yes, everything is relative. I really appreciate a man’s perspective!
So sad to say I wasn’t included … as the husband-declared shoe queen in Miami! Yes, I took 10 pairs for my four-day PRSA 09 conference experience. Came home with 11 pairs (one 5-minute stop at Nordstrom). I’ve also done research on how the shoes you wear have an impact on spokesperson and message credibility. Fun research! And, can’t leave this post without a conference tip — change the heel height every 4 to 6 hours. This helps a lot with posture and walking.
Rosanna – I did send out a couple of tweets during the conference! Great tip, thanks so much, and also for stopping by. Where can we see the results of your research?
Drool, drool on all of those shoes! Gosh they were great! That’s what I love about PR, that we can express our personal brands in the small ways like wearing great shoes.
Thanks, Ann Marie, and thanks for stopping by!
Shonali,
Kudos girl! For the most original post on PRSA I ever read! You rock. (And not just because you liked me shoes ;)
Much love,
Sandra
Aw, thanks, Sandra! I can’t wait to see what you’re going to pull out of the carry-on today.
