I had the good fortune to be a presenter at Social Commerce Camp DC in February, thanks to Shashi Bellamkonda and Kikscore. As I was looking through my deck, it occurred to me it would probably make for a good series of posts on PR best practices for small businesses:

On the other hand, it might all be old hat to you.
What do you think… shall I go for it?

Shonali,
I agree with the other comments…send in the posts! It’s a good refresher for those of us who’ve been around a while, important for those new to the profession and especially important for businesses who aren’t sure which type of expert they need to hire to help their business.
You might consider having different leaders handling various aspects of the posts too. It would be a great way to involve guest bloggers.
I would like to see something on how PR can change/influence behaviors too and an emphasis on planning and strategy to better influence those outcomes.
Mary, I love the idea of having different leaders posting to this series. Thank you! Hmm… now I actually have to structure the series instead of winging it. ;-) You know I’m going to call upon you, right?
Shonali …full speed ahead with your series idea! At Social Commerce Camp, you gave clear examples made all the more distinct with your personality.
-Which prompts this idea for your series:
Would you consider including mini video or audio cuts – between 30 seconds to a few minutes – of you elaborating on certain PR principles? Audio and video certainly aren’t necessary for your series to make an impact. But your confidence and zeal for what you do come across with so much energy. In light of your topic, it could make it all the more personable and compelling.
Jill, that’s such a great idea, thank you! Though I would have expected no less from the DC Media Makers co-founder/champion. You’re awesome. Thank you again!

Shonali’s presentation at Social Commerce Camp DC in February was one of the best, honest, and straight forward presentations about PR that I have ever seen. It really got me thinking about PR and how I have really not been applying it effectively. If you get the chance to see Shonali give this presentation again…you will not regret it.
Mike, thank you so much for the kind words, I’m bowled over. OK, then – a series it is. Thank you!
Hi Shonali,
Since there are still people newly entering the profession, people in it who still can’t define it, and clients who still don’t get what PR is, I say send up the posts! Reiterating the power of tactical PR, demonstrating it with examples, and following it from beginning to measurement can only help us all. Might this be your WTFIPR 101 Series – ## posts to help us all get on the same page?
I look forward to reading and sharing.
Best, Jenny
Jenny – that might just be the new title of the series! Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
