This week, I’m psyched to introduce to you a very special Social PR Virtuoso: Dinean Robinson. A Jersey girl who’s been in PR for 12 years, Dinean and I “met” years ago… and then reconnected when I launched SPRV. I loved that she said she’s been “stealing from me” for years, before she finally signed on as a Virtuoso – steal away, Dinean!
Introduce yourself – who are you and what do you do?
My name is Dinean Robinson, and I’m a Jersey girl born and raised. I help organizations, brands, and people identify and tell their best stories.
I create the best context and strongest content to propel my clients past the competition right into the conversations, minds, and hearts of their stakeholders.
I’ve been in the game for 12 years and have worked within food & beverage, sports, entertainment, non-profit, health & wellness, and LGBTQ sectors! I’m currently working as the Director of Communications and Marketing at Teach For America – New York.
Why do you care about Social PR?
I am obsessed with storytelling. In my opinion, Social PR has become the key to connect with and influence communities and to succeed in business.
What’s your secret Social PR Superhero power?
My power is mastery of tools! I have an uncanny ability to learn how to identify and implement the use of social tools quickly and in a way that’s connected to achieving my client’s goals.
How are you using the Social PR Virtuoso Master Course to grow your Social PR superpowers?
I work at a large nonprofit and part of the challenge is getting everyone to understand what I do and to get buy-in from them. The Master Course has been instrumental in helping me educate and empower my team to utilize and participate in the Social PR movement within our organization.
What is one Social PR campaign you’re in love with? Why?
One that I’ve been in love for a long time is Mastercard’s Priceless campaign. Highlighting life’s best moments and empowering customers to experience them unapologetically, all while spreading joy via the interwebs!
It’s the things my Social PR dreams are made of.
What tip(s) would you give those starting on the road to Superhero-level Social PR?
Remain a student. Be fearless. Listen to Shonali!
Who inspires you? Why?
I’m most inspired by those who take the time to educate people about the work we do as PR professionals.
There are so many misconceptions and a lot of people doing terrible PR that when leaders such as Shonali, Deirdre Breakenridge, and many others make it part of their business model to ensure PR itself maintains a great reputation, that inspires me to be excellent.
If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Burger Walla’s double chicken burger with sweet potato tots! It has meat, cheese, veggies, a super soft bun, and delicious signature sauce. It’s perfection.
I just may have to try that next time I’m in Jersey! You can learn more about and talk to Dinean via her Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
